Bible Study Tools
I did a lot of research before I bought a notebook to create my own Scripture directory by subject, and this one had the best reviews for standing the test of time.

I use these tabs with the notebook to the left. They are easy to write on and stick well.

Devotional Books
The devotionals in this book are short and pointed. You'll never be left guessing what the author is saying, and he's not scared to speak the truth. It's very inspiring!
|
Written by a dear friend of mine, this devotional book is written as if they were letters from God to His child. Each day includes a short journaling section. It's refreshing, founded on truth, and like a balm to any mom's heart.

Books for the Battle
This is one of the most impactful allegories I've read. If you haven't read it, you probably should. I had to include two versions of this - the one on the left is cheaper, but the one on the right is so gorgeous inside, with watercolor paintings, real photos, and spaces to journal. I couldn't leave it out.

This is the sequel to Hind's Feet on High Places, and is full of great teaching and word pictures.

This book is written as the journal of a young girl. Although it's classified as a novel, there are few books that have had as much impact on my spiritual life as this.

Books on Parenting
This is not a how-to, but a why-you-should book, and it's powerful. It will bring some new concepts in your parenting and you might need them more than you think!
|
Written by the intentional parents of four daughters, this book is a good resource for any girl mom.
|
This book is full of practical, hands on parenting how-tos. I don't share very many child training books, but this one has some great principals. Even if you don't agree with/implement all of them, you will get value out of this.

For the Kids
My Dad read this book to us when I was growing up, and we LOVED it. It breaks down what Jesus does for His children in such a simple, meaningful way. It's a great introduction to spiritual warfare for your kids!
The Knights of Arrethtrae is the sequel series to the Kingdom Series. Each book chronicles the life of a different Knight of the Prince (Christian), and highlights a struggle or victory of Christian life. I still listen to, and am inspired by these. These are definitely great for road trips, if your kids are in the preteen stage. They may be a little scary for younger kids.
|
Hands down the best Bible Story dramatization I've ever found. I may be more riveted to the stories than my kids are. I laugh, cry, and worship my way through each CD. There is some creative license taken with these, so if you're looking for strictly verbatim Bible CDs, these are not it.

The Kingdom series were written by a homeschool Dad of 6. This series is an allegorical retelling of the entire Bible, set in the medieval times. It is full of sword fights, knights, ladies, evil Shadow Warriors, and the redemption story. I Highly recommend getting the audio books, but the paperback books are great as well.
